Organisation

Traditionally, dredging has been their core activity. Their services include the construction and maintenance of ports and waterways, land reclamation, coastal defense and riverbank protection. Today they also offer a wide variety of maritime services and contracting to the offshore energy sector. These include the development, construction, transport, installation, inspection, repair & maintenance (IRM) and decommissioning of oil and LNG import/export facilities, offshore platforms, pipelines and cables and offshore wind farms.

What are you going to do?

As Senior Naval Architect you will make your mark working on our new designs and modification of a wide variety of vessels. You will be proactive in solutions for our internal clients. The design of a vessel like a dredging-, cable lay-, offshore construction- or semi sub cargo vessel, is a highly complex matter. With your specialized knowledge of concept and basic design you relish the diverse nature of our (future) fleet. You are a quick learner, willing and able to understand new complex vessels and their operational demands. Complexity is a fun challenge, not a hindrance for you. Your excellent soft skills are important to understand the needs of our internal client as well as getting the best out of the many specialists in your team. You are creative in thinking about innovative designs for the total, future proof, scope of our areas. You enjoy working with various specialists to accomplish this goal in a national and international working environment.

Your responsibilities as Senior Naval Architect:

You analyse customer demand and develop a concept design, draw up the associated budget and specifications and recruit subcontractors and suppliers.
You are communicating and building relationships with suppliers (in close concert with purchase department), and you are aware of new products and developments in the market
You involve external expertise and classification societies in an early stage of the project if required
During construction phase you serve as a back office for the shipyard site team, you review drawings and specifications, and you will visit the shipyard and participate in discussions/inspections on site if needed
You manage all parties involved and monitor aspects such as time, quality & budget so that realization, commissioning and aftercare are guaranteed.
You attend sea trials and participate in final acceptance of the vessel

Qualifications

You can make your mark as Senior Naval Architect if you have:

A Bachelor or master’s degree in Naval Architecture.
Proven experience in the design and calculations of vessels.
At least 10 years’ work experience.
Knowledge of the rules of various classification societies.
Excellent command of the Dutch and English language.
Willing to travel international (10 / 20%).

In het merendeel van de gevallen treed je bij Selectum in loondienst voor de duur van een project of voorafgaande aan indiensttreding bij onze klant. Voor loondienstverbanden bij Selectum vormt de ABU CAO en de toepassing van de inlenersbeloning (aan de hand van de arbeidsvoorwaarden van de klant) de basis Voor het pakket dat wij je kunnen bieden. Dit pakket is altijd marktconform.
Wanneer een specifieke opdracht kan worden uitgevoerd door een ZZP-er, spreken wij een tarief af voor het zelfstandig uitvoeren van deze opdracht bij onze opdrachtgever. Hiervoor moet zowel de klant, de opdracht als de ZZP-er aan verschillende voorwaarden voldoen.
In een aantal gevallen is onze klant op zoek naar een kandidaat voor de uitbreiding van haar eigen organisatie. In die gevallen wordt de arbeidsovereenkomst aangegaan met onze klant en zo ook de uiteindelijke arbeidsvoorwaarden (rechtstreeks) afgestemd.
