Wat ga je doen?
We are seeking an experienced Senior HVAC / Mechanical Engineer to support pharmaceutical engineering projects from the client’s office in Leiden. This role is embedded within the client organization under a Managed Engineering Services (MES) agreement and is suited for a senior professional who can operate independently and take full ownership of the mechanical scope.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Independently lead HVAC and mechanical engineering activities from concept design through execution support.
- Act as the primary mechanical engineering interface between the client, engineering disciplines, and contractors.
- Develop, review, and approve HVAC and utility system designs in GMP-regulated environments.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and applicable regulatory standards across all project phases.
- Prepare and review key engineering deliverables such as calculations, P&IDs, datasheets, and specifications.
- Provide technical support during tendering, construction, commissioning, and ongoing site improvements.
Functie-eisen
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc or equivalent).
- 8–10 years of relevant experience, preferably within pharmaceutical and/or cleanroom environments.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical utilities, including chilled water, LTHW, steam, condensate, BMS, water, drainage, and fire protection systems.
- Solid understanding of GMP, safety, and compliance requirements in regulated facilities.
- Proven ability to work independently and take ownership within multidisciplinary, client-facing teams.
- Fluent in English; Dutch proficiency strongly preferred.

When a specific assignment can be carried out by a self-employed professional (ZZP-er), we agree on a rate for the independent execution of the assignment at our client’s site. In such cases, the client, the assignment, and the self-employed professional must all meet certain conditions.
In some cases, our client is looking to expand their own organization. In those situations, the employment contract is concluded directly with the client, and the final employment conditions are agreed upon directly with them.
