This role exists to supervise the work of Mechanical Technicians and Assistant, to ensure they perform their work with a high level of technical competence and in accordance with HSE standards. The role holder ensures planning and support for maintenance of the offshore mechanical and rotating equipment, in line with the overall maintenance objectives, planning, budget and the MMS, and in liaison with the offshore Mechanical Technicians, in order to maximize the equipment reliability and availability and to reduce replacement costs, in compliance with applicable legislative requirements, existing procedures and standards, including HSE and competence assurance.
Rotating Equipment Maintenance
Guide day-to-day planned and unplanned maintenance of the offshore mechanical and
rotating equipment, provide technical advice and assistance, in line with maintenance and operational planning, to guarantee that equipment systems are fit for purpose and operate in a safe manner.
Ensure physical plant and facilities are maintained to provide a safe working environment and protect the environment. Ensure planned and unplanned maintenance, activities are executed to high quality standards. Provide related support to offshore personnel, in order to maintain or improve the condition of the facilities and prolong useful life.
Budget Preparation and Control
Prepare and manage the budget for the specific area of expertise, supporting the Maintenance Superintendent in the annual budget cycle. Monitor, analyse and report on expenditure against budget and report variance against budget in order to give management insight and support decision-making.
Manage the maintenance planning for preventive and remedial offshore mechanical and rotating equipment. Prioritize planned and unplanned activities, requisition and scheduling of vendors and materials in cooperation with the CP&L team, and scheduling of personnel according to capacity, to ensure an efficient time schedule and execution of work. Agree planning with Maintenance Superintendent, in accordance with the overall maintenance planning and budget, for integration in overall planning and handover to OIM.
Plan and prepare maintenance work programmes for planned and unplanned maintenance. Conduct initial risk assessment. Complete work scope documents, material specifications for offshore mechanical and rotating equipment, and permits to work, so that the offshore mechanical technicians have the relevant information to execute the work safely and efficiently after it has been approved by the Mechanical Team Leader and the Offshore Installation Manager.
Technical Maintenance Standards
Implement best practice maintenance procedures and techniques and set technical standards of own area of expertise, in conjunction with Maintenance Superintendent. Monitorimplementation; ensure compliance, so that mechanical personnel can work according to consistent standards, in line with relevant industry norms and standards as well as government rules and regulations, including HSE. Keep abreast of developments on mechanical and rotating equipment maintenance techniques and methods and share these within offshore mechanical maintenance team. Update operations manuals and communicate updates as required.
Ensures that regulatory inspections are conducted as required; prompted by MMS schedules, regulations, or HSE policies. Discuss and approve investigation plans of Maintenance Assistant, ensure inspection schemes for pressure containment systems and inspection and certification of the helideck. Quality assurance of the inspection work done by mechanical assistants and third-party contractors. Ensure that inspection records are complete and filed internally for ease of retrieval when necessary and with relevant regulatory bodies.
Human Resource Management and competence assurance
Organize, manage, develop, motivate and appraise direct and functional reports, in line with the HR policy of CEU NL. Ensure employees have the knowledge, skills and support to do their own jobs safely and can protect and promote the safety of others and the environment while achieving the Department's targets and delivering agreed production targets.
Perform regular competence assurance activities such as mentoring, coaching assessments and maintain own NVQ assessor accreditation.
