Construction HSE Manager Haaksbergen Overijssel

Role Context
Our client is currently seeking a Construction HSE Manager to support field projects executed under their Construction Management scope. You will be part of the HSE department in the Netherlands, which includes both home office and field staff. As Project HSE Manager, you will lead a team of HSE professionals, comprising both internal and contractor staff, and support the Project Construction Manager in managing risks in accordance with the project HSE plan and corporate procedures.

This is a site-based position.

Responsibilities

• Lead the HSE team at the project site(s)
• Assist the Construction Manager in achieving agreed HSE goals within the project’s time and cost constraints
• Support contractors in preparing for safe execution with minimal risk
• Implement and oversee the corporate Life program, including Life Conversations, Take5, and Life Saving Rules
• Evaluate and ensure the quality of contractor HSE plans, risk assessments, and method statements
• Ensure effective incident and hazard management processes, including immediate reporting
• Coach and mentor the project management team in safety leadership

• HVK certification and first aid training
• Minimum 10 years’ experience leading contractors in construction projects
• Fluent in both Dutch and English, with excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• A passion for HSE, with a practical and motivating approach to reducing risk
• Proactive, pragmatic, and a strong team player
• Ability to share and gather insights through a professional network
• Independent working style
• Understanding of engineering processes
• Proficient in digital tools relevant to HSE project management
• Experience in EPCM or operations environments preferred
• Able to manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced setting
